Entertaining the Kids in Cape Town's False Bay

False Bay is a popular destination with Cape Town's kids, who flock to the area, offering plenty of activities to keep them entertained. A family holiday in Cape Town just isn't complete without a visit to False Bay on the opposite side of the Cape Peninsula. With so many activities for the little ones, you could easily stay for a couple of days:

Swim with the Boulder's Beach Penguins

Take a dip into the sea at Boulder's Beach and you'll be joined by a colony of African penguins. Boulder's Beach is the best place in Cape Town to see these wonderful birds, but families should remember that the beach is an animal sanctuary and should therefore be treated as such. The penguins on Boulder's Beach are known as the Jackass penguins because of the distinct ee-yore sound that they make. Although Boulder's Beach has close to 3,000 of these noisy waddlers, the Jackass penguin is near endangered and therefore there is a small admission charge to enter the beach, which goes towards the penguins' conservation.

Visit the Simon's Town Scratch Patch

Half of all the world's gemstones are found in Southern Africa. Therefore, Cape Town is the perfect place to buy gemstones and they make wonderful souvenirs for your children to give to their friends at school. At Scratch Patch, thousands of gemstones literally cover the floor and much fun is to be had searching for the prettiest. You can find anything from tiger's eye to lapis lazuli and agate on the floor and there even some rarer more exotic stones.

Spot Whales and Seals on a Boat Cruise

Sail the Indian Ocean aboard the Spirit of Just Nuisance and you'll have a great time spotting seals and sea-birds. You'll even hear the real-life story of Cape Town's most famous dog, Just Nuisance, the only Great Dane to ever serve in the navy. Whilst sailing past the Navy fleet you might be lucky enough to spot a frigate leaving the harbour, but sometimes guests have been luckier still and spotted a whale from the confines of their ship.

Visit the Warrior Toy Museum

If your child hoards toy cars or just won't let go of her doll collection, then a visit to the Warrior Toy Museum is a must. The museum houses over 4,000 toy cars and 500 dolls, but it's the two fully functioning railroads that make it a must-visit destination for the children. The museum is based in Simon's Town on St. George's Street so walking around the town afterwards is a great way to spend the rest of the day.

Learn To Surf

Splash out on some surfing lessons for your children and they're bound to be the envy of all their friends. Gary's Surf School is the oldest surf school in South Africa and has been around since 1989. Located on Muizenberg Beach, the school is as popular with tourists as it is with locals. The consistent waves make this beach, the best in Cape Town for learning to swim.

Me freestyling to the Christmas setlist on DDR Extreme!

Just finished my Fall 2009 finals, so to celebrate, I decided to freestyle to the "Christmas Setlist" on DDR Extreme. 1. Silent Hill (3rd Christmas Mix) 2. White Lovers 3. Silent Hill (original version) I apologize for the lack of energy in these videos, as I had literally just completed my last final prior to filiming. Also in the last freestyle, Mr. Acoustechtronica decided to provide different camera angles. So that's why the vid is the way it is. Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy the video, and I also wish you all a very safe and pleasant holiday season! :)

Motor Home Vacations - The Black Hills and Badlands

Here's a surprise for you, something that nobody ever forgets - driving along the endless plains of South Dakota, up ahead you see rising out of the featureless plain, a range of mountains covered in pine trees. These are the legendary Black Hills of South Dakota and Wyoming, and they are full of great scenery and things to do.

The Black Hills and Badlands of South Dakota are some of the most popular motor home destinations in the country. It makes a great vacation spot, or stop along your way across the Great Plains to the Rockies and the Great American West beyond.

One of the sites that is a must-see in the Black Hills is Mount Rushmore. These masterfully carved faces in the mountain cliffs of our most esteemed former presidents are considered to be a monument to American democracy. We've all seen them in history textbooks and on TV, but there's nothing like actually seeing them "face to face" to appreciate just how giant they are.

Another site of important historical significance is the Crazy Horse Memorial. This monument to another of history's heroes includes a museum, shrine and memorial service to the great Sioux leader. It is important to the heritage of all North American Indians, as well as Americans of any ancestry.

If you want to get out and really see the majestic preponderance of pine forests up close, there's no better way than the George S. Mickelson Trail. This trail was created in 1998, and winds itself 109 miles through the Black Hills. There are covered bridges, gentle slopes, and beautiful scenery. You can hike it or bike it, and there are lots of trailheads.

For those who want to get out and see the land in your motor home, the scenic drives of Custer State Park are ideal. There are a variety of roads that take you all over the Black Hills, where you can see its unique scenery and wildlife.

Finally, there is Badlands National Park, where you can see buttes and eroded rock formations that tell the ancient pre-history of this remarkable land. Some people have described the Badlands as otherworldly. Looking at some of these rock formations, you can't believe that they were not formed by the hand of man. That is exactly the kind of unique beauty that makes the Badlands such a popular destination for motor home enthusiasts.

One of the best places to stay in the Black Hills/Badlands area is Lazy J RV Park and Campground, located just south of Rapid City. It is close enough to the city to be convenient, but outside of town enough that you'll have mountains right at your doorstep. Best of all, it is family friendly and fully equipped for RVs. They also have a variety of activities for folks of any age.

Another great place is Beaver Lake Campground in Custer, South Dakota. They have sites for all different sized motor homes, and they are all big and shady. They also have a heated pool and waterslide for the kids to enjoy. Rates vary from $23 to $25.

If you want to have the Black Hills right at the door of your motor home, try Whispering Pines Campgrounds and Lodging in Rapid City. The campground is located right in between Mt. Rushmore and Deadwood, and the rates are very reasonable, ranging from $16 to $25. They accommodate RVs, campers and tents, and also have cabins for a more luxurious stay.

And Also The Trees - Scarlet Arch (Studio Version)

And Also The Trees - Scarlet Arch (B side of A Room Lives In Lucy 12" Single- 1986) Lie in the pale summer heat Find a clock as it ticks Oh, to never sleep But the clock ticks so loud Like the cracking of whips Till the sun slowly heaves From the blood hungry land To its heaven of blue Run, through the dust and the stones Like a stream as it flows Through the kingdom of peace But a beast roamed his head Like the aching of guilt As it bakes in the heat As its swollen tongue speaks Robs the old of their breath Hang beneath dawns scarlet arch Where the wind ever moans Like the slaveship it drifts Biography: And Also The Trees formed in 1979 in the United Kingdom. They are most notable for their poetic lyrics and evocative music which is strongly influenced by their native English countryside. AATT started in the dawn of the 1980s in Inkberrow, a small village in Worcestershire, far in the countryside. The band was inspired by the ideology of the burgeoning post-punk movement, but took its rural roots to heart. A home demo tape was sent to The Cure which led to a friendship between the two bands. In 1981 And Also The Trees played several shows in support of The Cure's UK tour. Their second demo tape From Under the Hill (1982) was partly co-produced with Robert Smith and Mike Hedges. Their first two single releases ("Shantell" and "The Secret Sea") and their debut album, simply called And Also The Trees, were produced by The Cure's Lol Tolhurst and released in 1983. The debut ...

A Florence Hills Tour

Italy, a veritable treasure chest of culture and heritage - with its food, wine, culture and history, is always on the top of a European tour list. A tour to Italy would not be complete without going to Florence. This city is in the heart of Tuscany and is sometimes considered the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance. It is a place that is famous for its abundance of fine art and architecture and in the modern day, its fashion and leather goods.

If you are feeling a little tired out after a few days of sightseeing in Florence, a Florence hills tour can be a great way to relax and wind down. With a great ambience and an aura of solitude the hills of Florence are very popular and ideal for those who wish to take a break from the city.

If you only have a few hours to spare and don't want to venture too far from Florence, then a trip to the town of Fiesole is highly recommended. Set amongst the hills, just 5 miles from Florence, Fiesole makes a pleasant half-day trip from Florence and provides a wonderful view of the city. You can get there by bus from the centre of Florence in around 20 minutes.

If you're feeling more energetic or have a little more time to spare you can walk from the centre of Florence to Fiesole in around 2 hours. Once in Fiesole you can easily spend two or three hours wandering round, taking in the sights and the views of Florence and the valley below. Sights include a Roman Amphitheatre and baths dating from 1 BC, the Duomo and a few small museums.

If you have a full day to spare there are numerous tour companies that can organise day trips by bus, walking tours or biking trips. Alternatively you can hire a car and use a map to discover the delights of the Tuscan countryside for yourself.

A guided walking tour of the Florence hills will provide you with an insider's view of Florence & Tuscany - you can discover the hidden treasures and learn of great legends and stories, giving you a more intimate experience of the region of Tuscany. A walk through the Florence hills is invigorating and you can soak up the beauty of the surroundings as you breathe in the fresh air and bask in the warm sun. You'll also find plenty of photo opportunities as you pass by churches, castles, hill top towns and villages, olive trees and vineyards

If you're reasonably fit and have cycling experience you may want to take a Florence Hills Tour by bike. There are many tour companies that offer guided biking expeditions of the area. With these tours you will cover more ground than the walking tours and you will see many of the different terrains and landscapes that the Florence hills have to offer. Be sure to find out as much information as possible about the cycling route before you go, as many tours of the Florence hills by bike can be arduous because of the steep climbs that you have to make.

If you want to make the most of the peace and quiet and spend a few more days enjoying the countryside you may want to book a stay in one of the many bed and breakfasts, hotels or villas in the Tuscan hills. Hiring a car will allow you to venture just that little bit further afield and visit some of the beautiful Tuscan hill towns such as San Gimignano, Colle Val D'Elsa and Monteriggioni.

Regardless of how much time you have to spend there, a trip to the hills surrounding Florence will give you a taste of the Tuscan countryside that will help to make your trip just that little bit more special.

Six Free Things to Do in Orlando, Florida

Perhaps best known for Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, Orlando has much more to offer than just theme parks, and many of its attractions are free for visitors to enjoy. Here are just six things you can do on vacation which won't cost you a penny.

1. Take a stroll along Disney's Boardwalk

The 45-acre waterfront district that fronts Disney's Boardwalk Resort is a recreation of a 1930's-style Atlantic coastal village. Visitors can enjoy a stroll while taking in the entertainment provided by the many street performers, musicians and magicians.

You can access the Boardwalk by walking along the International Gateway from Epcot, or via the hotel itself.

2. Admire the old-fashioned appeal of Celebration

Located just off the 192, the town of Celebration is packed full of historic-themed architecture fused with modern technology. This picture-perfect town was conceived by Disney and is the perfect place to go if you want to kick back and relax. There's a farmers' market on a Sunday morning and Reading Trout books offers many free events, including author readings and book signings. They also have an excellent selection of Disney themed books.

3. Check out the Downtown Disney Marketplace

The Marketplace is open to all visitors; you don't need a Walt Disney World ticket to enjoy the wide array of themed shops and entertainment. There are boutiques and eateries to suit all budgets. The kids will love exploring the massive World of Disney store, or playing with Lego at the Lego Imagination Center.

4. Experience a vintage car parade

Old Town, a unique shopping and entertainment area, sits on the 192 just south of Walt Disney World. Take a leisurely stroll along the main street browsing the stores, or for a more eventful visit check out the drag racing, go karting track or reverse bungee jumping. Every Saturday night Old Town comes to life as 300 cars, polished and gleaming, drive up and down the main street. The parade is followed up with live entertainment featuring '50s and '60s rock 'n' roll music.

Admission to Old Town is free, including the car shows and concerts, but tickets are required for the amusement rides.

5. Picnic among the orchids

A World of Orchids is a 22,500 square-foot conservatory featuring orchids as well as other exotic flowers. The natural exhibits feature flowers and plants from Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Australia, Central and South America.

Take a stroll along the boardwalk, marvel at the Senator, one of America's oldest bald cypress trees or just enjoy a picnic at one of the many picnic tables.

A World of Orchids is located in Kissimmee and is open Monday through Saturday.

6. End the day with a bang

You don't need a ticket to enjoy Walt Disney World's fantastic firework spectacular Wishes. Resort guests can enjoy the show from the Transportation and Ticket Center, or catch the free ferry or monorail over to the Magic Kingdom park entrance for an up-close view.

The Knife Culture In Britain

Britain has currently got a knife amnesty in place. This where people are able to hand in their knives without the fear of prosecution, the amnesty is in place until the end of June. The hope is that it will reduce the amount of crimes involving knives including of course murders. The last amnesty was very successful according to the latest reports and one can only hope that this latest attempt also proves to be a success. Something needs to be done as I am hearing about more and more deaths at the hands of this knife culture and the problem seems to be getting out of control.

I have had personal experience about Britains knife culture. When I was about eighteen years of age I went out for a few drinks with a number of my close friends. We all ending up getting quite drunk and I ended up walking home with three of these friends. On the way home we passed a group of four men all in their twenties. They pushed passed us in an aggressive way making a number of nasty comments at the same time.

Despite being rather worse for wear, myself and my friends did not react. We were however very shocked as only a few moments later these four youths started to run towards us in quite a frightening way. We all started to run but one of my friends stumbled and fell over. I looked behind me and saw that these four men had surrounded him and were starting to punch him. I was not really sure what to do and was quite surprised to find myself going to his aid, rather brave or stupid I now think.

Luckily for me the youths ran off with my friend lying on the floor in agony. As I reached him I noticed that there was blood on the pavement at the place where he was lay. I asked him if he was OK and he said that he was. He had been stabbed in the stomach or chest area but had not realised. He thought that he had only been punched.

We managed to get him to the hospital where we later found out that he had been very lucky, even though he did have a punctured lung.

Even to this day which is years later, I find it hard to understand why the person decided to stab my friend. Why was a few punches not enough for him? It was not as if he was in any danger himself as there was four men against one. If he had killed my friend he could have been looking at a long stretch in prison and would have to live with the knowledge that he has killed a man for the rest of his life.

My advice to people is to leave your knives at home. By carrying a knife you could end a persons life, ruin the lives of that persons family and friends and even ruin your own life.

Over the last weekend, I have read about three murders on the streets of Britain via knife stabbings. I can not truly believe that the people carrying these knives left their houses with the intention to kill. The act was possibly influenced by alcohol or by some troubles in their own life. The people involved are likely to seriously regret their actions only a short time later. This however is too late for their victims.
