Chapel Hill may be small, but it is certainly powerful. As part of the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill Research Triangle, Chapel Hill is home to the University of North Carolina, an important research area and a population in education and culture.
As a college town and part of a region, which country has the highest number of PhDs per capita in the research, Capitol Hill is well educated and quite liberal. The small town of just over 50,000 revealseducation a top priority and is well known for its high quality of its education system, with the East Chapel Hill High and Chapel Hill high-ranking between the two recent Newsweek magazine top 100 schools in the country.
Along with its neighboring town, Carrboro, Chapel Hill also has a lively cultural and music scene. The city is home to labels such as Merge Records (The Arcade Fire) and Yep Roc (Billy Brag) next to famous artists such as James Taylor and Ben Folds recordwho began his career in the small but vibrant city.
Overall, the city known for a friendly attitude, good restaurants, cafes and a variety of independent retailers with a great spirit that has so many murals in town for events such as the popular and somewhat 'eccentric annual Halloween street party. The smallest of the three cities, Research Triangle, Chapel Hill, does her best to stand out.
