Chestnuts
We have all heard of roasting chestnuts over an open fire, but how many of you have really tried? Cook Chef Jason Hill shares some information on how to roast chestnuts. The chestnuts are in season from September to February here in the U.S. and grew on trees in the United States, Europe and Asia. When selecting fresh chestnuts, in search of beautiful plump specimens that are free of bruises with shiny brown shells. But how to roast chestnuts? I just grab a sharp knife and an averageX on the flat side of each chestnut. We do this so that the shell did not explode when heated. Next, fill a bowl with cold water and let the nuts of about 20 minutes. Preheat oven to 400 F or you will get nice and roaring fireplace. Pour the nuts and sprinkle on a baking sheet, X side up. Roast for about 12-18 minutes, or until the peels curl a little 'and the nuts are soft. Chestnuts roasted on an open fire in a pan with long handle (non-stick is not recommended), apopcorn or roasted chestnut. Some people recommend the pan. Roast for about 20 minutes, or until the shells curl and the nuts are soft. We hope this fun holiday tradition. Chestnut uses abound, ranging from salt or dipped in sour cream, place in Turkey, stuffing or candied. Have fun!
