Florrie Forde (August 16, 1875 April 18, 1940), born on May Flora Augusta Flannagan, was an Australian popular singer and entertainer. It was one of the biggest stars of the 20th century Music Hall. Forde was born in Fitzroy, Melbourne, Australia in 1875, the sixth of eight children of Lott Flannagan, and Phoebe - who also had two children from a previous marriage. At the age of sixteen, ran away from home to appear at the Music Hall stage in Sydney, taking the surname of hisstepfather. At the age of 21 in 1897, he left for London, and Bank Holiday in August 1897, its first performance in London in three locations - the South London Palace, the Pavilion and Oxford - in the course of an evening. E 'was immediately a star, the first of his many records in 1903, and by 700 individual recordings of 1936. Forde had a strong stage presence, and specializes in songs that are powerful and memorable choruses, whichpublic were encouraged to participate. They married in 1909 and was soon drawing top billing, singing songs such as Down At The Old Bull and Bush, and nobody here has seen Kelly?. She appeared in the first Royal Command Performance in 1912. During World War I, his most famous songs were some of the best known of the period, including Pack Up Your Troubles in old kit bag and It's A Long Way To Tipperary.
